Alternative Fuel Usage

Aviation pollutants account for 0.75% of the nations air pollution.

Emissions to be more prevalent as air traffic expands.

GMIA is responding by voluntary reducing emissions by converting shuttle buses to CNG, decreasing taxi times and providing electric power to parked aircraft to eliminate the need to run APU.

Alternative Fuel Vehicles

In 2005 GMIA constructed in partnership with WE Energies & private entities a CNG station at the Clark Station located at 5979 S. Howell Avenue.

Public access. A Congestion Mitigation Air Quality

(CMAQ) Improvement Program grant was attained to assist in construction.

CMAQ Grant

80% Federal funding 20% Local (Milwaukee County) funding.

$487,000 construction costs GMIA leased CNG site for $1.00/year

Alternative Fuel Vehicles

GMIA currently operates (12) CNG shuttles which drive 40,000 miles/year/vehicle.

1.28 tons of NO year/vehicle or 15.36 tons of NO total/year
