Gerda  Fandrich

Gerda  Fandrich  has  lived  in  Abbotsford  and  enjoyed  award-‐winning  Clearbrook  water  since  1979.  Since  2011  she  has  been  honoured  to  serve  as  a  trustee  of  the  Clearbrook  Waterworks  District.

Gerda's  30+  years  of  service  to  this  community  began  in  1985  when  she  was  elected  to  the  Abbotsford  School  Board.  She  was  re-‐elected  eight  times  for  a  total  of  23  years  of  service  as  a  trustee.  She  was  elected  chairman  and  became  the  first  woman  to  be  elected  chair  of  the  Abbotsford  School  Board  in  four  decades  and  served  as  vice-‐chair  six  times.

Gerda  was  named  Abbotsford  Woman  of  the  Year  in  2008  and  one  of  Abbotsford's  100  Most  Influential  People  in  2009.

Gerda's  service  to  the  community  over  the  years  has  included  the  following:

Abbotsford  Community  Foundation  Director  -‐  longest  serving  member  and  scholarship  donor   Fraser  Valley  Regional  Library  Board  -‐  instigated  and  chaired  first  long-‐term  planning  committee   University  College  of  the  Fraser  Valley  Community  Council   Abbotsford  Recreation  Commission   BC  Summer  Games  Committee   MSA  Museum  Society   Abbotsford  Museum  Task  Force   Abbotsford  Arts  Council   Literacy  Matters  Abbotsford  Committee   Abbotsford  Traffic  Safety  Advisory  Committee

Gerda  is  presently  a  board  member  of  the  Bakerview  Music  Academy  and  is  a  partner  with  her  husband  in  a  forestry-‐related  business.

The  Clearbrook  Waterworks  Board  and  staff  have  very  capably  and  economically  overseen  the  functioning  and  maintenance  of  the  Clearbrook  water  supply.  Our  water  is  a  valuable  community  resource  and  I  am  prepared  and  willing  to  apply  my  community  service  experience  to  help  preserve  and  expand  our  excellent  water  supply.
