Identification of Gifted Students

in South Carolina Three dimensions

Students must meet two of the three dimensions

Dimension A-Reasoning Ability Criteria

93rd age percentile or higher nationally normedaptitude tests

Qualifying Tests for Dimension A CogAT taken in the fall

OLSAT

Dimension B-High Achievement in Reading and/or/Mathematical Areas 94th percentile or higher nationally normed

achievement test

The cut scores are set annually for PASS Reading or Math tests.

Qualifying tests for Dimension B MAP (fall or Spring)

ITBS (fall, 2nd grade only)

PASS (spring)

Dimension C-Intellectual/Academic Performance Eligibility-must first meet Dimension A or B

80% or higher-2nd grade

90% or higher-3rd grade

80% or higher-4th grade

90% or higher 5th grade

Beginning 6th grade- 3.75 GPA Academic Core Subjects
