STA Best PracticesThe items listed below are considered our school’s best practices when it comes to using google classroom in support of synchronous and asynchronous learning.

- Google classroom---be mindful of time of day when sending reminders/posting to students

- If assignments are posted on Google Classroom and it is going

to be assessed, a classroom discussion needs to happen

- Google classroom is to be used as a support, not a teacher-replacement

- It is the teacher’s discretion to assign marks on Google

Classroom as long as it is private

Google Classroom in an Asynchronous environment

At St. Thomas Aquinas, we are offering 12 sections of senior level courses online through Google Classroom.

Courses are available to students within PVNCCDSB, as well as provincially and with the goal of expanding internationally

Courses are in different pathways and disciplines including Business, Languages, Humanities and Physical Education

New Pedagogies for Deep Learning Changes the role of teachers to that of activators of learning who design learning experiences that build on learner strengths and needs, create new knowledge using real-life problem solving and help all students identify their talents, purpose and passion.
