Civil Engineering Museum
The roads you drive on, the bridges you cross, the buildings in which you study or work, the
power behind your lights and anything you can plug in, the water you drink—they’re all
possible because of civil engineering! Its impact is everywhere. Students of Civil Engineering
have done very unique activity to get hands-on building some civil engineering models. An
independent organizational component – the Museum of Civil Engineering – oversees the
unique collection related to civil engineering activities at Government College of
Engineering, Nagpur. Students have constructed small building components at their own out
of waste concrete cubes tested in lab. This activity was based on their second year
knowledge only which includes Rubble masonry, mechanism for conversion of laminar to
turbulent flow, collection of Tiles, Arch bridge, Flexible Pavement section, Types of Flooring,
Types of Pipes, various Brickwork bonds, types of plastering, Composting from organic waste
& Bottle house out of waste bottles. They enjoyed this activity a lot.
