FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid• If you are like most Americans, you need help paying for college. • The FAFSA will determine how much aid (money) you will receive from the government in the way of

students loans (you pay back) and grants (FREE $ - you do not pay back). • Fill out the FAFSA and designate the schools on the application you wish to receive your information.• You will need the following for yourself and for your parents, assuming you are a dependent:

• Your Social Security Number• Your Alien Registration Number (if you are not a U.S. citizen)• Your federal income tax returns, W-2s and other records of money earned. (Note – you may be able to transfer your

federal tax return information into your FAFSA by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.)• Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)• Records of untaxed income (if applicable)• A FAFSA ID to sign electronically

• There is no obligation to accept the student aid, so do NOT ignore this! It could save you hundreds or thousands of dollars.

• The federal deadline for filing your FAFSA is June 30, 2020, but the state deadline is April 1. Each college may have a different deadline, so inquire now and know what that deadline is.

• Visit https://fafsa.ed.gov/ to start your application TODAY.
