Quote of the Month
When I went to school, they asked
me what I want to be when I grew
up. I wrote down “happy”. They
told me I didn't understand the
assignment, and I told them they
didn’t understand life

GPA President’s Message
Hello to everyone; I hope you had a blessed “Resurrection Easter.” For those who sacrificed for Lent, started your Daniels Diet; or just decided to do something special and holy to enhance yourself, I hope you were successful and I congratulate you.
In GPA business, as always there are some issues of concern!
First, there is this new tax or fee initiative the City of Detroit is implementing in certain communities where they are paying extra to have additional security, snow plowing and mosquito abatement spraying… there are some pros and cons on this issue. At our April 16
th
General Membership meeting, there will be some officials present to explain the particulars of this issue. I therefore need your presence and thoughts on this issue.
Next, the debate and battle continues regarding Medical Marijuana Dispensaries within our area. This discussion will continue at our General Membership Meeting.
The status of public lighting in our area will be updated and addressed.
Your attendance at Saturday, April 16th General Membership Meeting will be of
importance because “Recall Governor Synder Petitions” will be available as well as a short briefing regarding this initiative.
We will continue to address the issues within our neighborhood, and of course our elected officials, representatives and candidates will be present. Most important is I look forward to seeing you Saturday, April 16, 2016. Remember, we can’t solve the problem or issue, unless we know they exist. So bring a household member, bring a youth and bring a neighbor and I’ll see you Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 10:00AM, Greater Emmanuel Church, W. 7 Mile Rd. and Schaefer.
Thank you Roy McCalister, Jr. President, Greenwich Park Association

Detroit Promise Zone
Scholarship Detroit high school students will now be
guaranteed two years of free tuition at five
community colleges in metro Detroit. This
commitment was made possible through the
Detroit Promise, an authority that Mayor
Duggan and the Detroit City Council created
to dedicate a portion of tax dollars to
permanently fund two-year scholarships.
The program is available to current high
school seniors who live in Detroit and have
spent their junior and senior years at a high
school in the city. The program would also
not have been possible without the help of
the Detroit Regional Chamber of
Commerce. For more information, go to
www.detroitscholarshipfund.org.
