• Engine elements: – 4 cycle– ignition– fuel/air mixture

• carburetor• fuel injection

– oil– cooling– engine instruments– potential problems – abnormal combustion, carb icing, engine

temperature hot/cold

• Electrical system elements: – battery– circuit breakers– controls– instrument – potential problems

Actions

• Gather information on each element: – Define purpose – Outline its operation and readiness for use– Address how it is powered– Determine its limitations– Discuss failures and back up operation– Specify FAR 91 requirements for ASEL and VFR/IFR

• Consolidate information and present to the class in a iMovie format, duration 2 to 4 minutes by 3 Oct 11

• Value 10 points – minus one for each missing required information element– minus one for each minute outside 5 to 7 minute window– minus one for incomplete bibliography– minus one for each day late – plus one for innovative presentation
