Hacking Creativity How to Find and Act on Inspiration
A presentation by Sharon Hurley Hall
Being creative isn’t hard
2
Ideas are everywhere!
3
They distract you when you’re thinking about something else
4
They come up in conversation
5
You find them when people share on social media
6
You get inspiration from what you read
7
You find them by walking around and observing people and things
8
But being creative is not enough
9
It’s what you do with your ideas that counts!
10
Otherwise, there’s no point in being creative
11
First, you have to capture your ideas
12
Then, you have to act on them
13
To capture ideas, you need tools:
14
a notebook, a recorder or an app
15
Capture everything.
You never know what will be useful later
16
Then ACT!
17
How do you move from ideas to action?
18
One step at a time
19
Too many ideas can paralyze you
20
So pick your best idea 21
Then make a plan
22
Use planning tools like whiteboards, paper, mind
mapping – you choose!
23
I like Workflowy and Google Keep
24
But even planning
isn’t enough
25
You also need to be ACCOUNTABLE
26
Set milestones
27
Get an accountability partner
28
Check in
29
Use email reminders to motivate yourself
30
Join a mastermind group
31
Being accountable turns ideas into action
32
That’s how you get results from creativity
33
And it’s WAY better than just being creative
