What is Healthy FE?
•A programme focused on addressing the health and wellbeing needs of staff and learners.
•It looks to build on current health and wellbeing related activities through adopting a coordinated approach.
•Partnership with other stakeholders such as the PCT, local authorities and wider stakeholders is required.
Why adopt Healthy FE?
•40%of men and 28% of women meet the minimum recommendations for physical activity in adults (at least 30 minutes of activity on at least 5 days a week).
•Approximately 37% of deaths from coronary heart disease are due to physical inactivity.
•There were 8,724 alcohol-related deaths in 2007.
•of children of aged 5–16 years 9.6 per cent had a clinically recognisable mental disorder5.8 per cent had a conduct disorder3.7 per cent have emotional disorders, anxiety and depression,1.5 per cent had hyperkinetic (hyperactive) disorders
