MEEP!ecosystems project
Hello World, meet MEEP!
MEEP aims to help solve one of today’s biggest challenges — how to build learning
institutions that work for people at all stages of life, from birth until natural death.
We're a community of educators who loveusing mapping techniques to visualize
our learning ecosystem.
An educational ecosystem involves
all the people, relationships, & places that
promote learning in our communities.
In practice, MEEP is a platform that asks people to share their insights, strategies,
& solutions for educational transformation.
All of the information we gather, we publish on our natural partner, LocalWiki. Our mapping
curriculum is also open for use, revision, & creative remixing.
Life Cycle Mapping charts human needs from birth to natural death.
Early Childhood:
Learning in the context of family &
childcare.
Formal Schooling: Learning in K-12, colleges, universities.
Professional Development:
Learning in the workplace.
Eldercare:Learning to age,
promoting quality life,
easing death.

Empathy Mapping explores the needs and different perspectives of the many players in a community’s learning ecosystem.
Learning happens here! Wat Mongkolratanaram is Berkeley’s
Thai Cultural Center & Temple. It offers language classes, youth
services, & spiritual instruction.
Learning happens here! Berkeley Public Library’s South Branch
lends magazines, books, tools, & computers. It offers family literacy
classes & hosts a teen room & community meeting room.
Learning happens here! The MLK Youth Services Center provides academic tutoring, leadership development, & violence prevention training.
Learning happens here! At Berkeley’s Grove Park, people learn tennis & practice softball.
Spatial Mapping plots our learning ecosystem in real space.
affinity mapping allows for natural partnerships to form & flourish.
It also showcases a community’s existing & emerging solutions for smarter learning.
