HEMMINGFORD HERALD
NEWSLETTER OF HEMMINGFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Message from the Principal April was another busy month at Hemmingford Elementary School. Our students participated
in our Community Connections program for six weeks starting at the end of March and finishing
in the last week of April. A profound thank you to all of our volunteers!! (Pictures on page three)
Hemmingford Elementary School participated in the NFSB Music Fest 2017 (photo on the next
page). We were well represented by our choir led by Mrs. Mary Aboud. A video or the performance
is available on the NFSB Youtube page.
This month, we are once again participating in Energy Cubes, part of the Grand defi Pierre La-
voie (GDPL). We have sent home our
booklets, please track your progress and
write it in your child’s booklet. Last year,
one of our staff, Louise Trahan, participat-
ed in the GDPL and, through using the
money raised and other grants, we were
able to purchase 6 bike desks that are
spread-out through our classes. (More
info on page 2)
Lastly, the staff and students surprised
me by decorating my door for Principal’s
Day! My signature ties were on full dis-
play and contained wonderful messages
on the back! (Photo on the left)

Students in grade 6 went out on stage for Community Connections — One of the stops was Parc Safari
I want to thank all my little & not so little munchkins… for all the special posters, notes & flowers to help me celebrate Administrative Professionals Day (photos on page 2). You all made me feel very special and proud to be your secretary and your Dr. Jiggy Do.
Remember to wear rubber boots and bring a change of clothes must as the weather promises to be very wet for the next week or so.
Don’t forget to thank Mom for all the little & big things she does for you on “Mother’s Day”.

Public Speaking
Hemmingford Elementary
School will once again be host-
ing Mrs. Ellerton and the Wom-
en’s Institute for our public
speaking on May 17. Parents
are welcome to come and
watch the presentations start-
ing at 8:30 AM.
Student coalition is a group of students from each N.F.S.B
school who get together at Howard S. Billings in Chateau-
guay.
Student coalition is all about problem solving and meeting
new people. This year our school worked on the lunch
hour because it was really loud. Each school has to have a
goal that they want to accomplish.
At the second to last meeting, we worked on an iMovie. In
our iMovie, we had our goals and that we had achieved
and our future goals for our school. You also get an awe-
some free sweater and pizza at the last meeting!

trative Profes-
sionals Day. The
HES staff and
students sur-
prised Sylvie with
flowers and kind
hand-written
notes.
This is a reminder to parents of
grade 6 students that the end-
of-year exams have begun.
Regular attendance for exams
is extremely important. The
exams take place over extend-
ed periods of time to minimize
the time spent each day.
Trip to Parc Safari Hemmingford Elementary School is going to Parc Safari on June 5, 2017. We are inviting par-
ents to volunteer and participate in this event. All parent volunteers are required to have a
completed criminal reference check to volunteer for events like this. If you are interested in
attending, please complete the paperwork at the school by May 12, 2017.
Student Coalition
