92% Of teens at West Senior believe that teenagers think about suicide at some point of their lives

87% of teens at West Senior believe that teen suicide is directly linked to bullying and hazing.

60% of teens in West Senior know someone who has contemplated Suicide.

Common reasons people at west think suicide is contemplated are:

Abusive or troublesome family life

HAZING

Boyfriend/ Girlfriend problems

SELF-DOUBT & Isolation

Obsession

Feelings of worthlessness

71% of teens at West Senior say that those teenagers that contemplate suicide are effected forever by that experience.

90% of teens at West Senior believe that talking helps in coping with the thoughts of those who may be contemplating suicide.

22% of teens at West Senior believe that there IS a point in which death may be better than life.

92% of teens at West Senior believe that pressure from outside sources is the bridge between thoughts of suicide and contemplation of suicide.

85% of teens at West Senior believe that teenagers contemplating suicide DON’T realize how many people they would hurt if they were to take their own life.

74% of the students at West Senior say that suicide is the cowards way to solve life’s built-up problems.

80 percent of West Senior believes that contemplating suicide will change the perspective in which you see the world around you.

US STATISTICS

In 2005 there was a national total of 32,637 suicides.

25,907 of them were men, 6,730 were women.

4,212 were age 15-24

Suicide Method statistics

In 2005 52.1% suicides were done by means of firearms. (GUNS)

22.2% suicides were done by means of strangulation or hanging.

17.6% suicides were done by means of poisons

8.1% used other methods.
