In the last five years FamilySearch has changed from a microfilm processing organization to a digital image processing organization.

Last year FamilySearch published about 80 million images online for free access to all.

Many times that number will be published in 2011.

If the rate of increase stays the same there will be 251 European collections by 17 October 2012

More than parish names:

Julia Coult emigrated to America and told her children she was from Dorsey, Essex. Printed books did not show Dorsey as a place in England.

A woman from Essex explained to me that she grew up in Tolleshunt Darcy and everyone there just called it Dorsey.
