Prepare for Brexit at gov.uk/brexit

Will you be affected when the UK leaves the EU? Make sure you are Brexit ready.

The UK is going to be leaving the European Union (EU).

The European Union (EU) is a group of 28 countries in Europe that work together.

Brexit means Britain leaving the EU.

Surrey County Council has been planning for some time to make sure we are ready.

We have been working with organisations like:

• The Police

• National Health Service (NHS)

• Highways England who look after the main roads and motorways

• Surrey Chamber of Commerce who support local businesses

We are making sure that:

• People will be safe

• Traffic will carry on moving

• There won’t be too many problems for communities and the environment

People from the EU

We think there are nearly 80,000 people from the EU living in Surrey at the moment.

If you are from the EU, you can apply to the Government to carry on living here. It is free to do this.

You can find out how to apply at:www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families

You need to do this by:

• 30 June 2021 if we leave with a deal, or

• 31 December 2020 if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.

If you have already paid money to do this, you can get your money back.
