Here are the top 5 things you should do to be prepared for, get excited about and make the most of your Residential School experience!

Following these tips will help you make the most of

your Res School experience!

1. Be prepared

Make sure you check USQStudyDesk before

making your way to campus. Depending on

what you are studying, your lecturer might

ask you to prepare by completing readings

or online quizzes. You may also be asked to

bring suitable clothing with you if you will

be working in laboratories or work rooms.

2. It’s all about the attitude

If you are lucky enough to already be working in the

industry you are studying, you may have learned some

of what you will cover during your time on campus.

It is important that even if you feel like you already

have the concepts covered, you take the time to

listen to and respect what your lecturers are teaching

you. They’re probably full of gems of wisdom and

ways of thinking that you’ve never considered.

3. Ask questions

No question is a silly question! Make the most of your

time with peers and lecturers by asking questions.

You are probably not the only one pondering the

problem and others will be grateful that you asked.

4. Network

When you graduate, your peers are

likely to become your colleagues, so

while you’re on campus, make time

to have lunch or catch up after class.

You might even meet people who

live near you that you can catch up

with after Residential School is over!

5. Support Services

There is plenty for online students to do on campus,

from attending social events to meeting with The

Learning Centre, Library or Student Services teams!

These teams can help you with understanding your

assignments, brushing up on your research skills, or

can provide you with personal or career support.

Residential School is about so much more than meeting your course requirements. It is an opportunity to meet new people, network, ask questions and make the most of the support services on offer at USQ! For more info about Residential Schools, check out this website.
