What Is Stress

• Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way

• Stress response is the body’s way of protecting you as well as helps you rise to meet challenges

Stress can cause psychological disorders that can also lead to death.

• Work-related stress depression and anxiety is defined as a harmful reaction people have to undue pressures and demands placed on them at work.

• The adverse reaction people have to excessive pressures or other types of demand placed on them at work, school or even at home.

There are two common physical side effects to stress that most people know about.

consumes more calories, and your body actually produces hormones that make you hold onto fat more

• Insomnia

- Stress can cause sleeping disorders. when you're stressed, your sleep quality suffers, as your body pumps adrenaline and high-alert hormones through your system that make it difficult to unwind and relax

• 73% of us regularly experience psychological symptoms caused by stress

Experts say that:

Stress is a silent killer. There’s plenty of research on the subject that shows that too much stress can have traumatizing health effects such as depression

There are various signs and symptoms of stress.

The most common are:

• Frequent headaches, jaw clenching or pain • Frequent crying spells or suicidal thoughts• Tremors, trembling of lips, hands•  Unexplained or frequent “allergy” attacks•  Difficulty breathing, frequent sighing

Overcoming stress can be done through stress management, self-help and medication.

Self-help for treating stress can be a great help for one’s recovery.

• Avoid Alcohol and Drugs

• Cut down caffeine consumption

• Give yourself a break from work

• Seek professional help

• Doctors will not usually prescribe medications for coping with stress, unless the patient has an underlying illness, such as depression or some type of anxiety.

• Bear in mind that there is a risk that all the medication will do is mask the stress, rather than help you deal and cope with it.
