TRANSCRIPT

Both PCR systems can be used directly from thebiopsies with similar H. pylori detection rates, although MOBIDIAG Amplidiag detected 2 morepositives.

GenoType HelicoDR kit, requires considerablemore hands-on time, although it is also able todetermine resistance to levofloxacin. Both techniquescan detect mixed population.

The aim of this study was to analyze theeffectiveness of the new molecular kit MOBIDIAGAmplidiag® H. pylori + ClariR (a commerciallyavailable Real Time PCR) to determine the positivityfor H. pylori and clarithromycin mutations relatedwith resistance, and to compare the results withthose obtained with GenoType HelicoDR, HainLifescience (conventional PCR followed byhibridization).

Among 94 biopsy specimens, H. pylori wasdetected by GenoType HelicoDR in 55 (58.5%) andMOBIDIAG Amplidiag® in 57 (60.6%) (Table 1).

Resistance to clarithromycin was detected in 26(47.3%) samples by MOBIDIAG Amplidiag® systemand in 23 (41.8%) by GenoType HelicoDR kit.

Heterogeneous resistance (wild type and mutatedat the same time) were detected in 4 samples byMOBIDIAG and 3 samples by GenoType (Table 2).

94 gastric biopsies from paediatric patients werestudied. The DNA was extracted using the NuclisensEasyMAG (bioMerieux). HelicoDR kit and MOBIDIAGAmplidiag® were used following manufacturerrecommendations.
