Background

• AFSC was acquired by Magellan in 2016 with very little integration
activity
• In order to take advantage of Magellan shared services and synergies, AFSC will be integrated into Magellan’s HR systems by the end
of 2018 which include its HCM, Workday, Learning Management System (LMS), SABA and HR service delivery platform, VERN (ServiceNow)
• There will be some changes to processes and programs as a result of this transition – the goal is to minimize disruption as much as possible
• You will have access to Magellan’s communication portals,
Magellan HUB and collaboration tools

Why Workday?
• Some history. . . .− Workday was founded in 2005 and launched in 2006 by David Duffield, founder and former CEO of
PeopleSoft and former PeopleSoft chief strategist, Aneel Bhusri
− The launch followed Oracle’s hostile takeover of PeopleSoft. Since 2006, WD has grown rapidly with over 8,000 employees today

• When Magellan needed to replace our multiple HR systems, we wanted. . . .− To have a fully integrated suite of HR applications
− To have real-time analytics
− To have self-service capabilities that would empower our employees and managers
− To eliminate reliance on in-house applications
− To manage our contingent workforce
− To bring benefits enrollment/administration in-house

• How Workday is different− It is different by design – it is not a database but instead is millions
of metadata definitions which means that its logic can be changed without coding or recompiling code – why does that matter?
− Speed – developers can rapidly change WD applications
− Security – developers and customers can’t access the database –it’s encrypted and is accessed only by application server
− Insight – reporting can be quickly presented because of this architecture
− Change – it mimics consumer technology, other ERP technologies are not nimble enough to change quickly because of their structure
