• Priorityarea:generationanduseofelectricityfromrenewablesources,theimprovementofenergyefficiency,exceptenergyefficiencyrelatingtoenergygenerationusingsolidfossilfuels,energystorageandthemodernisationofenergynetworks,includingdistrictheatingpipelines,gridsforelectricitytransmissionandtheincreaseofinterconnectionsbetweenMemberStates,aswellastosupportajusttransitionincarbon-dependentregionsinthebeneficiaryMemberStates.Investmentsinenergyefficiencyintransport,buildings,agriculture,andwaste.

• Non-priorityarea:projects ‘consistentwiththeUnion’s2030climateandenergypolicyframeworkandthelong-termobjectivesasexpressedintheParisAgreement’.Noinvestmentscanbemadeinenergygenerationfacilitiesthatusesolidfossilfuels,withtheexceptionofefficientandsustainabledistrictheatinginMemberStateswithaGDPpercapitaatmarketpricesbelow30%oftheUnionaveragein2013–RomaniaandBulgaria.
