DesignParse SMS messages using GSM Module attached to a computer

The system requires a GSM module to be able to receive and sendSMS messages. Incoming incident reports will be received by theSMS module, and saved to the local database. Messages will be

parsed, validated and classified.

DesignPython for parsing SMS messages

The python-gsmmodem is python library that interfaces the GSMmodem attached to the system. This is a serial terminal library forcommunicating with an attached GSM modem. This library relieson pyserial (http://pyserial.sourceforge.net) for serialcommunication. Python is required to installpython-gsmmodem.

Conclusion

Phone, SMS and web technologies are valuable tools forrequesting assistance in incident situations.

The visual representation of incident reports using tables, graphs and maps provide effective ways to understandincidents data. It helps analyze the frequency of incidentreports per nature of incident, per location, per period of time.

There is a great need for the development of a state of the artinfrastructure that will be used by the incident commandcenter to automate the monitoring and informing the nearestresponding agencies to attend to the victim.
