An International High School passportprovides direct access to any destination

you desire: vigorous academics, global

exploration, community involvement, artistic

development and athletic prowess. Our

students are authentic, independent thinkers

who are looking to enhance and challenge

the world they will inherit.

Are you applying for an International passport?

Which type of passport would you like

to have?

An Academic passport...

International High School is the only independent school in San Francisco

to offer the prestigious, globally recognized

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

and the French Baccalaureate Diploma.

Students enrolled in either of these programs

commit to one of the most challenging high

school curricula in the world.

Our students are knowledgeable,

open-minded communicators who

care about the world.

A Global passport...

International High School students step out into the real world, embarking on cultural, academic or linguistic exchange trips. They engage in other ways of life firsthand, communicate in different languages and connect with peers in India, Italy, Nicaragua, Tahiti or Taiwan. Our trips vary each year, continuously providing new adventures and opportunities for our scholars.

Our award-winning service learning program inspires students to participate in service and philanthropic projects locally, nationally and internationally. Whether they volunteer at our neighborhood Hayes Valley Farm or fundraise for our sister school in Senegal, International students are mindful of who they are and active in their communities.

A passport to the Arts...

Students record their own music, build sets, perform on stage, produce films and create visual art in the Dennis Gallagher Arts Pavilion, the perfect location for our innovative students to discover, pursue, and hone their talents. With six annual events, including a fall play, winter art show and concert, student-directed one-act plays, a spring musical, senior IB art show and the Spring Arts Festival, students have multiple opportunities to get involved in the arts program.

Individual after school music lessons are available to students looking to practice the piano, violin, viola, drums, voice, guitar and clarinet with distinguished professionals who have performed with organizations such as the San Francisco Symphony and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. Students also break out into the local arts scene and have had their films screened at the San Francisco International Film Festival and art on display at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

A passport to Athletics...

At International we work to develop champions of today and leaders of tomorrow.

Competitive student-athletes at International have the opportunity to excel both in the classroom and on the fields and courts. Whether a love of badminton, baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming, tennis, soccer, track or volleyball, our International athletes and coaches achieve excellence. With multiple BCL Central titles, our student-athletes have declared themselves ready for the challenge of entering the BCL West in the fall of 2012.

...or all of the above?

From guiding students through the SAT process to articulating scholars’ aspirations, our college counselors collaborate with students to organize, plan and tackle the college admissions process. International students receive a significant edge in admission, and can earn up to one year of college credit at the most competitive colleges and universities in the country and abroad.

“The International High School

curriculum and teachers were

instrumental in igniting Theresa’s

passion for learning and helped

her develop and hone her skills

in academic inquiry and critical

thinking.”Parent of Theresa,

Class of 2006

“As a class we now move forward,

out into the world, and I hope we

all have the courage to look inside

of ourselves, to listen to our own

intuition and to thus discover what

our true path is in life.”

Harry, Class of 2008

“My trip to Senegal gave me the

opportunity to see the amazing impact

that Ecole Natengue has had on the

village of M’bour. This school and

community center exposed us not only

to the incredible poverty in this world,

but also to the boundless efforts that

are being put into ending it.”

Darcy, Class of 2011

“I have directed a one-act, played

soccer, baked for community

service, and I have gone to Mexico

and Guatemala with the school. I

have had millions of opportunities

that I wouldn’t necessarily have had

if I had gone to another school.”

Renee, Class of 2010
