Mock Interviews and Practical Tips on Answering Interview Questions

– just as you would respond in real life.

Mock Interview Format:4 minutes maximum (2-3 questions); the interview will continue even

if you make a mistake.

1 minute of feedback after each interview

Each interview will be recorded and DVD given to you.

After 10 interviews we will have a brief break to have a group feed back discussion of major issues.

At the end of all interviews, a final feedback session to review the good and bad of the workshop’s interviews.

Research the scholarship, the country, the university, the program, the state, student visas, financial aid… EVERYTHING!

Research common interview questions and answers (online search, YouTube videos, ask former candidates).

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!

Practice in front of a mirror, friends, family, colleagues.

Film yourself answering interview questions.

Write out and practice answering common AND unusual interview questions.

When you think you are ready – practice a few more times!

DRESS FOR SUCCESS & BRING CV OR OTHER REQUESTED MATERIALS

ARRIVE EARLY (20-30 MINUTES EARLY IF GOING TO THE EMBASSY)

PRACTICE YOUR GREETINGS AND FIRST ANSWERS

REMEMBER YOUR BODY LANGUAGE

RELAX, EXECUTE, AND HAVE A GREAT INTERVIEW

CONCLUDE INTERVIEW WITH RELEVANT QUESTIONS AND RESTATE YOUR INTERESTE IN THE SCHOLARSHIP.
