MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER• On9/11of2001,mythen-18-year-oldsonhadbeeninMarineCorpsbootcampfor2weeksandourcountry

wasunderattack.ItriedtogetanairlinetickettoSanDiegothatdaysoIcouldgogethimandbringhimhome;Ihadtolethimknowhe’dmadeamistakeandwasnotgoingtobecomeaMarineafterall.

• FortunatelyformysonandI,therewerenoflightsgoinganywherethatday.HebecameaMarineandlaterfoughtproudlyalongsidehisbrothersinarmsinthreecombattours.TheMarineCorpschangedhislifeandheisabettermanforit.

• Mylifechangedtoo.Justoverayearaftergraduationfrombootcamp,myMarinesondeployedtoacombatzone.Beingtheparentofacombat-deployedMarinegavemesuchpride,andwiththatpridecameawholelotoffear.Iwasnolongerhisprotector;hewasmyprotector.Hewasnolongermylittleboy,hewasmyhero.IknewIwasnottheonlyMarineparentontheemotionalrollercoastercalledcombat.IwasabletofindotherMarineparentsandbandthemtogethertosupportoursonsanddaughtersduringcombat.ThatwasinJanuaryof2003andIfoundedtheorganizationMarineParents.com,Inc.
