C ourse Objectives and Outcomes:This course aims at providing the senior-level under-graduate BICSE/BEE students an introduction to the theory andpractical know-how about the Advanced Communication Systems such as Cellular Mobile and SatelliteCommunications-one of the fastest growing field in the engineering world. The basic and under-lying technicalconcepts, which are essential for the design, implementation, and research in the Radio Communication Systems,will be presented in an easy to understand way while discussing practical examples and solutions to some real-worldproblems. On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to understand the BasicPrinciples behind MW Radio Link, Basic C ellular Radio C oncept and Design, Radio Wave Propagation andPropagation Models and Access Techniques for Wireless C ommunications, MW Radio Link Models and LinkBudget Analysis. Grading Policy:1. At least Five Assignments [5%] will be issued and each will be due one week after its issue date unless otherwise specified. Absolutely

no late submissions will be allowed.2. At least Five10/15 minute Quizzes [10%] will be conducted, one each in the class, most probably, on the day of submission of each

Assignment.3. Class Project [10%]- Groups of 3-4 students will conduct research projects and submit a P roject Reports within 6 -weeks time from the

issue date. P resentation of these projects will be must to get the credit.4. C lass Participation and Technical Discussions [5%] for those who are regular and participate actively in class discussions (technical
