Introduction to the Anisa Model
Dan JordanJuly 1981Lecture 3A
Philosophy of Science
Dreaming
• Orthomolecular psychiatry– Molecules involved in proper functioning are not right– Nutrition is key approach– See: http://www.orthomed.org/pauling2.htm
• Blind who could once see can have dreams• Congenitally blind do have active processing
during dreams• Dream cycles• Dream deprivation
Philosophy of Science
• Thomas Kuhn — Structure of Scientific Revolutions– Revolutions come about because of paradigm shift– Paradigm—refers to a generalized way of
understanding of how things work• See: http://chiron.valdosta.edu/whuitt/col/intro/paradigm.html
• Scientists within paradigm share understandings• Begin to question the paradigm’s ability to explain data
(Anomalies)• Begin to redraft paradigm and create new one
Philosophy of Science
• Thomas Kuhn — Structure of Scientific Revolutions– Example
• Copernicus—earth as center vs sun as center of solar system and universe (geo-centric vs helio-centric)
– This general process is the way new movements or change takes place
Anisa Model
• Education has been pre-paradigmatic• Anisa model is intended to produce a paradigm
of education– Includes a research and evaluation process such that
it engineers its own paradigm shift– Has already undergone several paradigm shifts– Must make commitment
• to finding out the truth of things• the reality that there will always be change
– Must make a decision as to which is the correct direction for change
World University
• Develop curriculum for the world university (UNESCO)– Goal is to secure the peace of the world
• Important things to be done; cannot wait for others to leave the old paradigm
World University
• Focus on the development of integrative generalists– Have broad perspective– Able to perceive and make connections among
various people’s efforts– Can function in a coordinating, peace-making role
• Working on K-12 social studies curriculum– 1000 most pressing problems facing mankind
