The clothing of the Inuit
To stay warm in the cold, men an women dressed alike , with the
exception of fur baby carriers for Inuit moms. The extreme
winters called for heavier fur such as caribou, which is similar to
reindeer. To stay dry in wet weather, the Inuit wore parkas made
from the intestines of seals, whales, or sea lions. In summer, shirts
of seal skin fur were worn over sealskin pants that were tucked

The Inuit’s had a very interesting diet. Their
diet was mainly fur bearing sea mammals.
Men expend about 2,700 calories per day.
Adult men consume about 2,88 – 3,100
calories. Adult women consume “somewhat”
less calories. Examples of what they ate are
seals. Whales. Caribous , and other fishes
and birds. Their food was prepared in many
ways like cooked and then ate fresh or eaten
raw.

The Inuit had many sources of transportation. For example they
created Kayaking. Another source were dog sleds , sense the snow
was very heavy to walk in. When the snow was not very heavy the
Inuit people would walk to travel. Another source they would use to
Travel across the water was a Umiaks. They are larger than kayaks and
wider .
The Inuit Shelter
The Inuit tribe lived in cold weather so they lives in houses made
of ice called igloos. When the hot weather came the Inuit made
tent homes out of animal skin most likely made of fur. They also
ate the animal they skinned .The fur only had one disadvantage
on the tribe, when it rained!
Arts & Crafts made by the Inuit Indians
The Inuit Indians made many arts & crafts. Some of the
women made necklaces for themselves and their daughters. Some
of the men made some for their wives and sisters and children.
The women in the tribe made masks and wore them on their
fingers when dancing around in special occasions. They also
made pots and things like that.
