Gathering the Fragments

Shalom Dr. Haim Gertner

My name is Lea Weinberg, currently I live in NY

My friend Ayalah Podwall participated this summer, June 2012, in Yad Vashem 8th Holocaust conference. It was unbelievable that she has chosen your lecture and heard you telling my mother's story (how she found 8 family photos in Auschwitz, and was hiding them inside a sandwich).

I would like to thank you so much for telling about my mother Paula Fried in your lectures. It was so emotional for me to hear about the lecture. I cried and also felt good, because my mother wanted the world to know her story, that's why she gave the photos to Yad Vashem.

Eight months later, on January 2012, my mother passed away. She survived the holocaust but didn't survive the cancer…

Thanks a lot for your time

Lea Weinberg

@alodium Today I submitted my family’s documents to Yad Vashem’s project “Gathering the Fragments” in Tel Aviv so that they will be available to future generations and not be lost. Their place in history is in the future.
