GENERAL INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR ECAS Non fee-paying activities: These activities are offered for one semester (September to February break). If you wish to continue after Semester 1, you will need to register again for Semester 2. Although these activities are offered without fee, it is expected that the children commit to the activity and must be present for each class. After three unjustified absences students will be removed from the activity list and parents will be informed.
Fee-paying activities: The fee-paying activities are year-long sign-ups. They are a commitment for the whole year (September to June). Your child will automatically be registered for the activity in Semester 2. These activities must be paid for by the end of September. The payment information will be sent to you in a separate email after the ECA lists are published.
All registrations must be completed online before Sunday, September 4, 2016, at 20:00. Any request after this date will not be taken into account. Please select the activities your children are interested in on the online form. Please remember that pre-school and primary aged children should not have more than three extended curriculum activities per week as they need time to rest and have unstructured playtime. Secondary School students will be able to choose up to five activities per week.
Please also remember that registering for an activity does not guarantee a place in any of the activities.

PRIMARY SCHOOL EXTENDED CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (ECAS)
In the Primary School, we offer a wide selection of ECAs to ISP students K to G5. The students can select up to three different activities per week. We believe that at a Primary level, the children need the opportunity to participate in structured group activities but also need free time in the week for playdates and resting.
Please note that registering for an activity does not guarantee a place but we will do our best to grant your requests although some may not be accepted due to a high demand for certain activities.
Activities will end at 17:00 or 17:30. Please make sure you are on time to collect your children. This information is available in each activity description.
If you have some children finishing at 17:00 and others at 17:30, you can register them to Option 4 of the Play Club (N to G1) or Homework Club (G2 to G5) in order to collect them all at the same time.
The children will be dismissed from the Ranelagh 96 gates 1 and 2. Please wait for your children outside the gate and your children will come out to meet you.
Play club and Homework club
Previously known as Primary Plus, these two clouds offer a day care option for parents unable to pick up their children after school on days they don’t have ECAs. We offer four different options:
Option 1: One-day attendance. The children can attend one day per week. You will have to select the day of the week upon registration. This service will cost 190 Euros for Semester 1.
Option 2: Two-day attendance. The children can attend two days per week. You will have to select the days of the week upon registration. This service will cost 395 Euros for Semester 1.
Option 3: Unlimited attendance. The children can attend any day of the week and will automatically attend in case of last minute ECA cancellation. This service will cost 500 Euros for Semester 1.
Option 4: After ECA attendance. If you have children in ECAs finishing at different times on certain days, this option will allow you to pick them all up at the same time. This service will cost 150 Euros for Semester 1.
These two clubs run every day, Monday through Friday, from 15:45 (15:30 for Nursery and Pre-K) to 17:30.
This service will begin Monday, September 5, 2016.
To register, please fill out the form on the ECA sign up page. Please note that the payment must be made before the first day of attendance.

Arts
Arts are a powerful mode of communication. They provide students with a wide range of opportunities and means to respond to their experiences and engage with historical, social and cultural perspectives. The students will be stimulated to think and to articulate their thoughts in new ways, and through a variety of media and technologies. Learning about and through arts is fundamental to the development of the whole child, promoting creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and social interactions.
Primary Performing Arts (G4/5) The Primary School Performing Arts has been a tradition in our school for many years and it is back this year!
The children engage themselves in a school production that will be presented to the ISP community at the Salle Adyar theater early February. They will be presenting ‘Emile and the detective’, in a version adapted to young actors.
Rehearsals should take place mostly on Wednesdays but children must be available on Saturdays as well, as additional rehearsals may be planned when approaching the final presentations.
If your child would like to take part in this adventure, please sign them up. Further information will be communicated in due time concerning the production. We hope to have many students join this exciting adventure!
For more information, please contact the Performing Arts Director, Susie Shreeve, at sshreeve@isparis.edu who has also been directing the amazing Secondary School plays.
American Conservatory of Paris offers private music classes. More information here.

SECONDARY SCHOOL EXTENDED CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (ECAS) In the Secondary School, we offer a wide range of activities to students G6 to G12. Students can register themselves using the registration link sent by email. We recommend that students select a maximum of five ECAs to allow time for doing personal work and having some free time. Please use the online form and registrations will function on a first come, first served system. The final ECA lists will be sent to the parents and students on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
As we are trialing a new registration system to reduce the amount of information being sent to families and make the ECA procedures coherent between the Primary and Secondary Schools, please be aware that some changes may occur in the Secondary timetable. We will keep you informed of any changes and thank you for your support and understanding in the process and hope that you will quickly see the benefits in the changes we are making.
Please remember that we expect the students to attend the ECAs they have committed to. The attendance will be recorded each week. If they wish to change, add or cancel an activity, they will need to send their request to the ISP PLUS Manager, Ms Nina Wilso n-Bury at nwilson@isparis.edu. The changes will become effective, when po ssible , after confirmation by email.
Students will not be allowed to attend an activity if their name is not on the list, unless they have permission from the ISP PLUS Manager.
Study club
In this club, students will have the opportunity to do their homework in presence of a support teacher who will be there to guide and help them with any task they need assistance with.
Study club will be available every day at lunch and after school (except on Thursdays).
Students must sign up for this club on the ECA sign up page. Students not registered on the lists will not be allowed to attend.
Student Council
The student council will meet every Monday at lunch time. The school will be holding Student Council elections at the start of the year and representatives will be elected by their peers in each grade.

ECA ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a non-profit organization that defends people whose human rights have been denied. As an extended curriculum activity, students in Grades 9-12 will have the chance to explore and try out the successful methods of this internationally-renowned organization. We will compare the methods of Amnesty International to those of other non-profit organizations that champion human rights and find a way to make a difference ourselves, as a group of concerned young citizens. Students will not be coerced into supporting one side of any political issue, and they will not be forced to officially join Amnesty International or to contribute anything financially. The politics and views of Amnesty International will be examined as objectively as possible in the context of a discussion about how this one group aims to help those in needs. Students will be encouraged to stand up and speak out in defense of their own beliefs and on behalf of those who have no voice and are unfairly persecuted for their religion, race, sexuality or political beliefs. An emphasis will be made on finding the delicate balance between successfully gaining support for a cause, while respecting others’ views, and the only doctrine championed will be a belief in the fundamental right of all people to dignity and decent treatment by others.

Rock U Rock U. is a performance-based rock band program for kids that is as rewarding as it is fun! Rock U. is not meant as a substitute for music lessons, but works best as a supplement to other musical instruction. While participants will certainly pick up some tips and tricks, the focus of the Rock U. experience is on learning to play together as a band and putting on a live performance, not on individual technique. The primary instruments in the Rock U. program are voice, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and percussion, but any instrument that can be played onstage in front of an audience has the potential to become part of the Rock U. ensemble. Previous Rock U. bands have featured flute, ukulele, violin and harmonica in addition to the instruments above. All skill levels are welcome, and parts will be assigned in such a way that all can participate. Being in a rock band isn’t just about playing the notes and the beats. It’s about responsibility, confidence, teamwork, trust, and the thrill of creating something with others that you could never create by yourself. We’ll rock out for sure, but more importantly we’ll learn how to make music together as a band in a supportive, fun environment. Every Rock U. session will include live performances for real audiences. Rock U. at Ranelagh participants will perform in at least two concerts organized for a general audience of family and friends, with additional performance opportunities throughout the year as they arise. Previous Rock U. groups have performed at the Paris Famillathlon, the Fête de la Musique and at fundraisers for charitable organizations in Paris.
