1. CourseDescriptionTheRCVcoursebuildsonthegeneralprinciplescoveredaspartoftheITILFoundationcourse.Toimplementneworchangedservicesinacontrolledandcosteffectivemannerandthentransitioncontroltotheoperationsgroups,ITorganizationsmustsuccessfullyimplementITILRCVbestpractices.Thiscoursecoversin-depth,theChangeManagement,ReleaseandDeploymentManagement,ServiceAssetandConfigurationManagement,KnowledgeManagement,RequestFulfilment,ServiceValidationandTestingandChangeEvaluationprocesses,tothelevelneededtointroduceorimprovethesecapabilitieswithinanorganizationasanintegralpartoftheoverallbusiness-focusedServiceManagementframework.

2. CourseDurationThisisanintensivefive-daycoursethatincludestheofficialAPMGcertificationexam.

3. WhatYouWillLearnTheRelease,Control&Validationcoursefocusesontheprocessactivitiesandtheirinterrelationships.Thiscoursehasanumberofstudyunitswithpracticalapplicationtoreinforcetheknowledgegained.Theseinclude:

TheServiceLifecycleandServiceManagementasapractice:UnderstandtheServiceLifecycleandtheobjectivesandbusinessvalueforeachphaseinthelifecycle;understandandarticulate“service”andbeabletoexplaintheconceptofServiceManagementasapractice

RCVKeyPrinciples,ModelsandConcepts:UnderstandthecommonServiceTransition(ST)/ServiceOperation(SO)principlesandguidelinesthatwillinfluencetheperformanceoftheRCVprocesses

RCVProcesses:UnderstandandarticulatetheactivitiesoftheRCVprocesses.Otherareasofdiscussionincludeinformationmanagementrequirements,challenges,criticalsuccessfactorsandriskswithineachoftheprocesses.Theprocessesinclude:

• ChangeManagement• ServiceAsset&ConfigurationManagement• Release&DeploymentManagement• RequestFulfillment

• ServiceValidation&Testing• ChangeEvaluation• KnowledgeManagement

UnderstandtheuseoftechnologyinsupportingServiceManagementandtheRCVprocessesandexploreconceptsthathaveanimpactonitsplanningandimplementation.ThiscourseimmerseslearnersinthepracticalaspectsoftheITILServiceLifecycleandprocessesassociatedwiththeRelease,Control&Validation.Themainfocusofthiscourseisontheoperational-levelprocessactivitiesandsupportingmethodsandapproachesrelatedtoexecutingtheseprocessesinapractical,hands-onlearningenvironment.ThistrainingisintendedtoenabletheholdersofthecertificatetoapplythepracticesinsupportoftheservicetransitionaspectsoftheServiceManagementLifecycle.

Note:Theemphasisofthiscourseisontheprocessactivities,theirmeasurement,theinterrelationshipsandrolesandresponsibilities;in-depthdiscussionofthemanagement/controlactivitiesthatoccurintheServiceTransitionandServiceOperationLifecyclecourses.

4. Prerequisites• TheITILFoundationCertificationinITServiceManagementorthev2tov3FoundationBridgeequivalent.• TwotofouryearsprofessionalexperiencewithServiceManagementaswellasdefinedexperienceinat

leastoneoftheRCVprocesses.

5. StudentResponsibilitiesStudentsmustcompleteatleast21hoursofpersonalstudybyreviewingtheServiceTransitionpublicationpriortothecoursestartandallowingforaminimumof90minutesofstudypereveningduringthecourse.

TheRCVexamisaverychallengingone.Uponregistration,studentswillbeprovidedwithapre-coursereadinglist.StudentswillbeexpectedtoreadthesectionslistedfromtheappropriateITILbook–ServiceTransition–beforethefirstdayofclass.

Note:ThisITILbookisnotincludedwiththecourse.

6. ProfessionalQualificationThiscourseformspartoftheITILIntermediatequalificationprogram.

Successfullypassingthe90minuteexam,consistingofeight(8)complex,multi-part,multiplechoicescenario-basedgradientscoredquestionsleadtotheITILIntermediateServiceCapabilityCertificate:Release,Control&Validation.Thepassmarkis70%(28/40)ormore.

Successfulcompletionofthiscourseandexamprovides4pointsofthenecessary15‘electives’toachievetheITILExpertcertification(2pointsforFoundationand5pointsforManagingAcrosstheLifeCyclearemandatory).

Note:TheLifecyclecourse‘ServiceTransition’andtheCapabilitycourse‘Release,Control&Validation’haveasignificantamountofoverlapoftopics.Itisrecommendedthatlearnerstakeonecourseortheotherinordertoacquirethepointsnecessaryfortheawardof‘ITILExpert’status.Allpointsacquiredwillbecredited.

7. CourseDocumentationEachstudentwillreceiveafullcolorcoursebindercontaininglecturenotes,in-courseexercisesandanswers,homework,practicequestionsandapracticeexam.AcopyoftheITILServiceTransitionKeyElementGuidewillalsobeprovided.Allmaterialsaredistributedonthefirstday.
