Demonstrations(focusing on “general” demos and not a specific project that is not
open to the broad community)
• Categories of demonstrations:– Traditional systems (e.g. ATMS and ATIS)– Transit centers– Rail and freight operations– Vehicle centric (V2V and V2I)
• Locations:– Europe– Asia– US

Europe Demonstrations• World Congress on ITS 2009 – Stockholm
– http://www.itsworldcongress.com/index.cfm?do=technical.demonstrations– Experience Park: ITS in Daily Life– Sustainable Railway– Cooperative Systems Showcase– Demonstration Theatre
• Cooperative Mobility Showcase held in Amsterdam, March 2010– COOPERS,CVIS, and SAFESPOT results highlighted and demonstrated– http://www.cooperativemobilityshowcase.eu/nl/en/pages/default.aspx
• Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge (GCDC)– Organized by TNO and HTAS from the Netherlands.– March 2011: “Technological solutions already developed in the area of
cooperative driving will be highlighted by this event, held on a stretch of road between Eindhoven and Helmond (The Netherlands).”

• 2011 World Congress Technology Demonstrations = 2011 World Congress Technology Deployments
• Build and demonstrate different deployment options of cooperative systems
• Establish a large-scale outreach for transportation technology (public, transportation professionals, executives from other industries, etc.)
• Establish local commitment for vehicle fleets to regularly utilize the infrastructure
• Leverage USDOT funding for infrastructure deployment and marry with regional commitment for O&M
