Philippians 4:6

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” ”

“then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

Proper preparation prevents poor ministry….

So how do we as Ministers of Music, Praise & Worship leaders, choir members, musicians, etc. prepare for worship?

• Theme – Know the theme of the service, church, year, sermon topic, etc, which is essential to proper song selection.

• Rehearsal – should occur on a regular basis

• Communication -- With God (Proverbs 16:3) With the Pastor (Proverbs 15:22)

• Focus – Worship should never be based solely on emotion

• Excellence – Pursue excellence in worship by leading with your whole heart. (Colossians 3:23,24)

Things to Consider when Preparing for Worship

Proverbs 16:3

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Proverbs 15:22

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”

Colossians 3:23, 24

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.”

• Know the importance of the part you play as a singer/psalmist.

• In other words, come to rehearsal prepared with the following….

• Be punctual for rehearsal • Bring tape recorders to

rehearsal• Take notes during rehearsal• Have the proper attitude by

remaining teachable• Study your music/parts/lyrics

during personal time • Read and meditate on any

related scriptures prior to rehearsal

• Be yielded to the Spirit of the God and the direction of the Pastor

• Causes us to reflect on the majesty and goodness of God, contrasted to our own unworthiness
