Solution?

Jordan River

Recreation Park

A unique partnership to preserve, protect, and open up this

area for recreation for countless Utahns

• An overlay zone 250 yards on either side of the Jordan

River between SR-201 and 4430 South, excluding areas

within Murray City.

• Administered by the Jordan River Commission with

State Parks, Salt Lake County, four cities directing.

• .

All of the one-time state appropriations and at least half of the ongoing appropriations shall be used for capital improvements within that zone, designed for increasing the safety and recreational attractiveness of that zone. These may include:

o Lighting along the Jordan River Parkway

o Completing the Jordan River Parkway along both sides of the river

o Building boat launches, picnic pavilions, benches, restrooms, or other amenities

o Supporting capital improvements for aviaries, nature areas, bike and boat rental concessionaires, or other partnerships that are enhancing recreation in this zone

Other appropriations shall be used to fund a River Ranger program to increase official patrols of the river corridor, partner with local law enforcement as needed, and assist in keeping the area clean and safe.

The park committee may partner with existing ranger programs to achieve this (State Parks, Urban Ranger Program, off duty police officers, etc.)
