Keeping Your Dog Cool During Hot Weather

With the weather gradually heating up, it is now the time to prepare your dog for the warmer weather that he will soon experience. Hot weather is unpleasant and can provide dogs with discomfort and overheating. Of course, you don’t want your canine friend to experience that, do you?

MAKE SURE YOUR DOG IS SAFE WHEN THE

TEMPERATURE RISE.

DON'T LEAVE YOUR DOG IN YOUR CAR

During hot weather and if you are taking your dog for a ride, never leave him inside your car. The inside of your car may feel cool at first but it could get hotter as the sun heat up your car.

KEEP YOUR FIDO HYDRATED

Always bring water for your Fido. If you are taking him out, let him drink water before you go, during your travel and after heat exposure. But remember not to let him drink too much as it might cause him to vomit.

USE SUNSCREEN FOR PETS

Dogs, just like human, can get sunburn and skin cancer as well so better let them use sun screen. There are sunscreens especially formulated for dogs that you can buy in pet stores.

TAKE HIM FOR A DIP

Dogs are just like kids. They want to go for a swim during warm weather so take your dog for a dip. He will surely enjoy the activity but don’t forget to rinse and dry him as soon as he’s done.

PLAY INSIDE

As much as possible, let your dog play inside. As the weather get hotter and so does the pavement. If you want to walk your dog, limit his walk in the morning or evening.

STAY INDOOR

Keep your dog indoors as much as possible. This is perhaps the best defense against warm weather that you can provide for your Fido. Inside your house, you can provide your Fido with everything he needs.

USE COOL CLOTHING

There are hot weather accessories and clothing that you can let you dog wear. These kinds of stuff provide a cooling sensation that can prevent overheating because of the hot weather.

Overheating of dog due to hot weather can lead to serious health issues so it is important to keep your four-legged pet on the cool amid the hot weather.

If you notice your dog panting, vomiting and other symptoms of overheating, don’t hesitate to contact a trusted vet immediately.
