Kindiedays Finnish Curriculum has been divided into five different learningareas that guide educators in their planning and implementation of activities.When educators plan early childhood education activities according to theselearning areas and objectives, they make sure the activities are versatile andpedagogically accurate. The five learning areas are:

Each learning area has their own themes and learning objectives, so thatplanning and implementing pedagogical activities is simple, fun and beneficialfor both children and educators.

Kindiedays provides tools to manage curriculums, make meaningfulobservations, reflect the learnings with the children and engage families inthe children’s learning. Any curriculum can be entered into Kindiedays from the manager’s webinterface and used by the educators. A premade Finnish curriculum isavailable for centers who want to follow the Finnish guidelines. KindiedaysFinnish curriculum is based on the National Core Curriculum for ECEC (2016).Below is a short introduction to Kindiedays Finnish curriculum from theeducator’s perspective.

Each learning area has 20-30 learning objectives divided under differentthemes. The themes of the learning areas are combined and applied accordingto children’s interests and abilities. The learning objectives are flexible to usefor children aged 1-5 years. For example, Rich world of languages learning area has objectives like“Document children’s stories” and “Use versatile children’s literature”. Diverse forms of expression learning area has objectives such as “Offerchildren experiences of making music together”. Me and our community learning area contains for example an objective “Makethe rules of the group together with children”. Exploring and interacting with my environment learning area has objectives as“Encourage children to examine objects and shapes and to play with them”. I grow move and develop learning area contains for instance an objective likethis “Let children have free play! Make sure versatile exercise equipment isavailable”.
