Disassembly – Removing the Case

Insure your Kindle Fire is fully powered off

We can now begin removing the back casing

We suggest using the flat end of your nylon spudger or small plastic pry tool and prying near the power button – this is our favorite location to access without damaging the casing

Removing the Case – Step 2

Using your pry tool, begin working along the lower edges, releasing the clips holding the case to the frame.

Most of the clips are on the bottom (near the power button) and long sides of the Kindle fire

With these clips released, the case can easily be removed

Removing the Battery – Step 1

Use your spudger to gently release the battery cable from its connection. Press both sides away from the connection and lift the cable away

Removing the Battery - 2

With the battery connector released you can now carefully begin prying the battery from the inner frame. Be sure not to bend the battery. Three (3) strips of adhesive will hold the battery in place. Use your nylon spudger to gently release this adhesive.

Removing the Battery – Step 3

With the adhesive released you can now remove the battery.

Take note of the three (3) strips of adhesive which was used to hold the battery to the device.

Releasing the Digitizer Flex – Step 1

Using a small Phillips screwdriver (#00) you can now remove the two (2) screws holding the digitizer flex cable to the main board.

Releasing the Digitizer Flex – Step 2

Use your pry tool to gently lift the white tab of the jaw connector for the touch screen digitizer. With the clip in the upright position, the cable can be removed from the connection fully

Heating the Touch Screen

Using a heat gun or hair dryer, begin warming the outside edges of the touch screen on a LOW heat setting. Because the motherboard is still in place you must use very light heat from 2-3 inches from the screen to warm the adhesive holding the touch screen to the outer frame.

Use quick movements, not staying in one area for too long. Heating the screen should take around 30 seconds on LOW heat.

Removing the Touch Screen from the Frame

Using a pry tool or spudger, pry gently in between the glass and the inner bezel. Slide the pry tool along the outside edges, releasing the adhesive. Be cautious of the digitizer flex cable.

Do not stick your pry tool too deep into the device, as you may damage the LCD screen or other internal components. Work your way along all edges, releasing the adhesive, reheating on LOW heat if necessary

Removing the Touch Screen from the Frame

With all the adhesive released you can lift the touch screen away from the inner frame and slide its flex cable through the slot in the housing, removing it completely. You can now clean up any leftover adhesive on the frame.

Installing the Touch Screen – Step 1

Prepare your new touch screen by removing all the covers over the pre attached adhesive. With the covers removed, give your LCD screen a final wipe to clear away any dust.

Installing the Touch Screen – Step 2

Insert the digitizer flex cable through the slot in the housing and align the screen over the frame. Apply pressure to secure the new adhesive to the frame.

Re-Connecting the Digitizer Flex

Insert the flex into the connector and replace the two (2) small Phillips screws. Once fully inserted, close the jaw connector.

Installing the Battery

Insert the battery cable back into its connector

Using the original adhesive, secure the battery back into the housing by applying pressure around the edges. Be sure not to bed or damage the battery

Almost Done!!

Once the internals are set you can now place the cover over the device and apply pressure along the edges to pop the case securely back on your Kindle Fire.

Success!!

And there you have it! Your Kindle Fire is now looking and working like new again!
