KRISHNA BHAKTI SANGHA PRESENTS :KRISHNA ERECTS DWARAKA FORT

Krishna Leela Series: 45

Recap….

Akrura was sent to Hastinapura to check on Dhrtrastra’s behaviour towards his nephews

Akrura delivered message to Dhrtrastra and spoke of Dharma

Dhrtrastra accepted his biasness and left everything to destiny

Akrura related everything to Krishna and Balaram

Krishna erects Dwaraka fort

After Kamsa’s death, his 2 wives left for their father’s place

In Vedic culture , women have to be protected:Before marriage she should live

with her fatherAfter marriage, she should be

with her husband In the event of her husband’s

death she should either live with her children or her parents depending on the circumstances

King Jarasandha

Their father was the King of Magada (Bihar)

Was mortified on hearing the news

Avenged to rid the whole Yadu clan

ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!

•Made extensive arrangements to attack Mathura•With thousands of soldiers, elephants, horses and soldiers, he

attacked Mathura with 13 phalanxes•Lord Krishna appeared as a human being and saw

Jarasandha’s immense strength.

Lord’s Mission

paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam

dharma-samsthapanarthaya sambhavami yuge yuge

In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I

advent Myself millennium after millennium. Gita- 4.8

Lord was thinking ….

What is my mission? Should I kill Jarasandha? Should I kill the troops? Lord decided to destroy

the troops of Jarasandha Lord Krishna is the most

intelligent While thinking, 2 military

chariots fully equipped arrived from outer space

Krishna and Balaram

Requested Balaram to join Him

They have both descended for the same purpose

“ Compassionate “Jarasandha

Krishna had a small army compared to Jarasandha’s He became compassionate because Krishna and

Balaram were related as grandsons He addressed Krishna as “Purushadhama”

Purusadhama vs Purusottama

Purusadhama means lowest among men

Purushottama – Highest among men!

Acharya’s explanation:purusadhama to be

"one who makes all other personalities go downward."

Started criticizing the Lord

Great dishonour to fight with boys Addressed him as killer of his own relatives Criticized for not being a Kshatriya

because he was hidden and was raised as a Vaishya

Finding faults is a tendency that we should eradicate

Jarasandha told Baladev…

If you want you can fight along with him

If you have patience you can wait to be killed and be promoted to heaven, or kill me!

Kshatriyas go to heaven in victory or in death in the battlefield.

The great fight is going to start..

Don’t talk too much! Just fight!

Jarasandha and his army surrounded the army from all sides like how the cloud covers the sun

Women of Mathura started fainting

Krishna started shooting his arrows when his small army was being harassed and blood started flowing very soon!

Defeated! Balaram and Krishna

killed everyone The sole survivor who

was not killed was Jarasandha and Baladev started tying him up

Krishna told him not to and to let him go

Ashamed and frustrated, he wanted to go do some penance and meditation

BAD ADVICE NEVER HELPS

On his way back, some royal friends encouraged him to fight again and not retire

It was due to past karma that he lost and his fighting had no fault

Lord comes back victorious! Citizens celebrated with great joy!

Everyone was offering nice poems, flowers, foodstuff and began to throw grass and yoghurt as per the

custom. Krishna presented the jewels collected in the battlefield

to Ugrasena

17 and still a loser! Jarasandha attacked 17

times and every time he was defeated

While Jarasandha was attempting one time, a Yavana king also attacked Mathura because of the opulence of the Yadus

Yavanas are descendents of Yayati

The King of the Yavanas was induced by Narada

18th Attempt So Kalayavan and

Jarasandha happened to attack around the same period.

Kalayavan had 30 million soldiers and Jarasandha had the same amount as usual

Krishna decided to build a fort where no 2 legged animal , man or demon could go.

FORTRESS DWARAKA

Engaged Vishwakarma Wall covering 96 square miles within the sea itself There were well planned roads, kalpavrikshas and palaces All the demigods came individually to present some gift to the Lord Krishna transferred everyone to the new palaces once it was completed Krishna entrusted Balaram as the incharge and left to meet Kalayavan

Kalayavan witnessed Krishna

Saw him as extraordinary beautiful and in silken yellow garments.

He saw Kaustabha,Srivatsa, blooming lotus eyes and his four handed form.

Krishna went past and Kalayavan tried catching Krishna but to no avail

He can be caught by devotion

- Krishna entered a cave and could not be seen- Kalayavan saw a man lying down and mistook him for Krishna and kicked him.- The mysterious man awoke and burnt Kalayavan to ashes!

WHO IS THIS MYSTERIOUS MAN?
