Username and Password

firstname.lastname@business.uconn.edu Alias – kprechtl@business.uconn.edu

Username and password: Username: first initial followed by your last name,

all lowercase – kprechtl Password: first and last initials capitalized,

followed by two “$” characters, followed by the last four digits of your peoplesoft number For Kevin: KP$$5624

Outlook Web Access

Everyone can access email via the web from any computer

Outlook Web Access – OWA http://www.business.uconn.edu/email

Works best with Internet Explorer Username: kprechtl Password: KP$$5624

Email Setup – Outlook 2003 and 2007

Configuration for Microsoft Office: Depending on your current configuration your

instructions could be slightly different. Please bear with Owen and I as we walk through

these instructions If you get lost, please raise your hand and we will

come help

For systems that have never used Outlook before

Email Setup – Create New Profile Open up the ‘Mail’ control panel. (If you do

not see the Mail Icon, you will need to click on ‘Switch to Classic View’ on the left side of the Control Panel.)

Click on ‘Show Profiles’ You will first need to add a new Profile. Click

on Add and then Type in your name to identify your account.

Click OK

Outlook 2007 only In Outlook 2007 this window should now pop up. Check

“Manually configure server settings or additional server types” Click next

Email Setup – Add New Email Account

A window will appear titled ‘Email Accounts’

Check ‘Add a new e-mail account’

At the Add a New E-mail Account Window, choose Microsoft Exchange and click on Next.

Email Setup – Exchange Server

Type in the following information: Microsoft Exchange server:

sbmailroom.business.uconn.edu Uncheck ‘Use Cached Exchange Mode’ Username: <your first and last name>

Click on ‘More Settings’.

Email Setup - Login

If you are prompted for a username. Ignore the login and click on Cancel. This may or may not happen

Afterwards you will get the following error message, hit OK.

This may or may not happen

Email Setup – General Account Settings

Verify the server (sbmailroom.business.uconn.edu) and your full name. Then click on OK. This may or may not happen

You will now be in the General Email Account Settings.

On ‘General’ tab make sure ‘Manually control connection state’ is checked

Email Setup – Proxy Settings

Select the “Connection” tab

Check the box next to “Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP” then select “Exchange Proxy Settings”

Email Setup – Proxy Settings

On the “Exchange Proxy Settings” page, set the following settings: For “Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for

Exchange” enter: sbpostman.business.uconn.edu 1

Ensure that the box is checked next to “Connect using SSL only” 2

Ensure that the box is checked next to “On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP” 3

Change the “Proxy authentication settings” to “Basic Authentication” 4

Select OK on the “Exchange Proxy Settings” page Select OK on the “Microsoft Exchange Server”

page Select “Next” on the “Change Email Account”

page Select “Finish” on the next “Change E-mail

Accounts” page Select “Close” on the Mail Setup – page

Email Setup – Finish

Now start Microsoft Outlook When you begin, you will get a

login box. Enter the following information:

User name: username@business (XP Pro) business/username (Vista)

Password: <your password> Then click OK

Clean up after yourself if you spill something. No fish in the microwave All food and beverage will be emptied on Thursday afternoons. If you leave plastic

containers or bottles from home, they can be thrown out. Take your stuff home on Thursday’s when you leave

MBA Computer in the Reading Room 10 minute max if people are waiting Printing for emergencies only Do not print your 50 page paper on that printer. MBA office provides toner, but will stop

if it is abused Bring your own paper

Breakout rooms – do not take any breakout just because it is unlocked. MBA’s have specific rooms allocated. See Sue or Pam Costa to schedule a breakout

MBA reading rooms – don’t use these for large group meetings, get a breakout room
