Introduction
About Leadership Lake Tahoe
Leadership Lake Tahoe began in 2003
with a mission to identify and develop
current and future leaders through a
comprehensive program designed to
increase knowledge and awareness of
the issues and challenges facing our
community.
The program is an intensive ten-month
experience to provide information,
strategies, contacts, and opportunities for
personal and professional growth. This
program is built upon three main pillars:
GROW, CONNECT and VOICE.
Why Leadership Lake Tahoe?
Individuals seeking professional and
personal development and increased
involvement in our community will benefit
from this program.
Leadership Lake Tahoe will:
Provide community connections.
Cultivate and nurture current and
future leaders.
Foster social community, civic intent,
and active participation.
Empower emerging
leaders.
The Chamber’s Leadership Lake Tahoe program has been identified by Barton’s
leadership team as a key step in the community education process for our
current and future leaders and for our succession planning. The leadership skills
and education about the South Lake Tahoe area through this program helps
Barton leaders to readily identify partners and pathways to continue to grow
our organization and identify the needs of our community.

Drive, Determination, Results
“This program was fantastic! The experience and people I met have been
invaluable in my feeling a connection to Tahoe like I have never felt
before. In addition, the program also took me out of my planning comfort
zone to represent other issues that exist around the community and how I
and people I know can be a force for change. I can’t say enough about
this program and how fortunate I feel to be a participant and graduate.”
Nick Exline, Associate Planner – Midkiff & Associates

“The focused topics for each
month were all very
fascinating and informative.
The combination of panel
discussions and field trips
made each class very
interesting. As a 30+ year
member of the community, I
took for granted my
knowledge of various
agencies and businesses.
The monthly classes
significantly increased my
depth of knowledge and
fueled my passion for the
community and Region.”
