Leadership Style and Adaptive Leadership
Leadership Style
Adapting your management and leadership approach according
to the other person is a key skill a leader coach MUST have.
There are two major considerations for the leader coach:
1. Where is this person on their learning journey?
2. Where is this person in respect of their performance and
attitude?
The answer to
the first
question
determines the
leadership
approach:
More or less
“supportive”
and more or
less “directive”.
Ensure that you
are using the
right balance
for the stage
that the other
person is in.
Now map your own position as a leader and, on the same chart,
map your team or clients in respect of the specific performance
areas that you are working on together.
