Wesley Lee Ramsey

88, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, went to be with his LordApril 19, 2003 at his home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He was bornApril 17, 1915 near the Illinois Chapel Community, the son of JohnWesley and Ida Stephens Ramsey.

He attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Prairie Grove,Arkansas. Wesley married Lorraine Kinion on December 21, 1935.

Most of Wesley’s life was spent in the Northwest Arkansas area. Hespent a brief time in California and Oklahoma. As a young man hefarmed in the Illinois Chapel community before going into businessfor himself. He owned and operated Ramsey’s Garage and was amechanic for more than 50 years. He also worked pipelineconstruction in the continental U.S. and Alaska. Wesley was a lover of music,having his own band, theRhythm Wranglers, a weeklyradio program and dance.Upon retirement he continued

to provide entertainment for various groups and seniorcenters. When Wesley and friends gathered, themusical instruments came out and the music began.

One brother preceded him in death, Dean Ramsey;three sisters, Pearl McKee, Sylvia Hale and JewellRamsey and one grandson, Kevin Ross.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lorraine KinionRamsey of the home; two daughters and sons in law,Shirley J. and Joe Ross of Fort Smith, Arkansas andSharon L. and Larry McCarver of Rogers, Arkansas; onesister, Opha Terpening of Cimmaron, New Mexico; sixgrandchildren, Cathey and Roger Shaffer of Lakewood,Colorado, Terri Ross, wife of late grandson, Kevin,Karen and Don Taylor of Lawrence, Kansas, Felicia Boles of Overland Park, Kansas, Martin

and Brooke Boles, Justin and Lesley McCarverboth of Rogers, Arkansas and Jamie and RobbieEllis of Muskogee, Oklahoma; fourteen greatgrandchildren, Daniel, David and Mary Shaffer,Laura and Doug Winters, Jennifer and MattMetcalf, Jason Ross, Erica and Lexie Hicks,Braden Boles, Ashley Brehm, Madison and BowenMcCarver, Logan and Cayden Ellis,; four great-great grandchildren, Courtney, Keely and KylieWinters and Caleb Hicks; Several nieces andnephews and a host of friends.
