LIFELONG LEARNING CENTRE
WINTER 2022The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) is part of the University of
Regina Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). It was established
in 1977 for people who want to continue learning for the joy of
it and who want to get together with others who share common
interests. Our programs are open to all regardless of previous
levels of education and have no age limits. Fees are modest
and some presentations are free, like the Wellness Wednesdays.
There are no exams or grades to worry about and most courses
have no homework!
These learning opportunities are provided in partnership with
University of Regina faculties and community partners. Our
instructors are experts in their fields who are passionate about
sharing their knowledge and expertise.
LEARNING IS FOR LIFE Adults everywhere need supportive communities and activities
that will keep them engaged. As winter approaches it is time to
think about fun things you can do to stay connected, safe and
warm. Why not take a new course this winter at the Lifelong
Learning Centre? We have something for everyone who wants to
learn or to be physically active. Everything from art appreciation
to yoga including opportunities to enjoy fine food and wine, learn
a new language and more as noted on the Courses at a Glance
page.
Since many students said they liked not having to go out in the
ice and snow last winter most courses and presentations can be
accessed from the comfort of your home. LLC also has a few face-
to-face courses for those that prefer to learn in person. No matter
which way you want to participate in LLC courses you can connect
with familiar faces or make new friends.
HOW TO PARTICIPATEYou can take a course or participate in a presentation using free
Zoom videoconferencing software on your computer, laptop,
tablet or cell phone with a highspeed internet connection. See
our website for more information about using Zoom. You can
also arrange free training to learn how to connect for courses and
presentations you are registered for by calling 306-585-5748.
For courses offered in-person at the College Building you will
need to show Proof of Vaccination (PoV), wear a mask and
respect physical distancing to ensure you, your classmates and
your instructors stay well.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIESLLC is looking for students and others interested in assisting with
Lifelong Learning Centre course delivery, promotion and more.
For the winter term we need volunteers who can assist instructors
teaching in-person courses to also allow learners to participate
in courses via Zoom. Training will be provided to those who take
on volunteer positions. For more information about LLC volunteer
opportunities call Hertha at 306-585-5766.
TWYLA MEREDITH“I discovered the LLC during the pandemic and I am so glad that I did. It not only provided me with a break from Netflix but it provided a sense of normalcy even though all my courses were through Zoom! It re-sparked my love of learning while providing professional lectures of a broad range of topics of personal interest. In just a few months, I have participated in nine courses ranging from art history, health, research studies, fitness and wine! I have enjoyed each course and I am recommending the LLC to all my friends!”
KRISTEN MCLEOD “The learning environment at the Lifelong Learning Centre provides a warm, welcoming space for people to explore topics in a community. As an instructor, I’ve been fortunate to meet radically different students and it’s been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. Connections have been forged over the online platforms that surpassed my expectations during pandemic instruction, all thanks to a well-designed program with attention to both offered content, design and accessibility.”

Keeping up with technology can help you stay connected with your
loved ones. Although screens have become an inevitable part of
daily life, keeping up with technology and trends can be a challenge.
This winter LLC is offering courses to help you master new tips and
tricks on your iPad, learn about current social media applications
and learn options for streaming your favourite shows.
