GRANT PROPOSAL GUIDELINES Proposal deadline is March 15th of every school year

Must be a SCIRA member to apply Individual or group proposals wil l be accepted

Grants wil l be funded up to $500

Grant Applicant Information Include all information for grant to be considered

• Name(s) • Proposal title • School and district • School address • Telephone number • Email address

Rationale Write 2 page narrative

• What are the literacy goals of the project (include short and long term)? • Why is this project important for your students? • How will your project impact the literacy development of your students? • How is your proposal grounded in best practice (is there any research to

support this project)?

Description Respond to each bullet point

• Grade level(s) and number of students involved • Time line • Materials required (must be supplemental to your district’s prescribed

literacy materials/curriculum) • Assessment – how will you assess that the grant has improved student

learning? Budget Display in table or chart format

• Detailed, itemized budget of materials displayed in table or chart format • Non-acceptable budget items: conference registration fees and related

expenses, professional memberships, stipends, personnel costs, food, or furniture

• Miscellaneous can not be considered a category for budget proposals • No projects deemed to be part of a curriculum budget will be funded

! Grant recipent(s) wil l be asked to write a brief summary at the conclusion of their project for the SCIRA newsletter.
