The SUPERPORT freight and logistics hub is the global logistics hub for northern UK & Ireland.
SUPERPORT offers a multimodal solution to reducing cost and carbon from the movement of goods whilst improving client services which is the greatest challenge facing the logistics industry today.
Currently 90% of deep sea cargo enters the UK via the south yet over 50% of the UK container market is based from Birmingham northwards. SUPERPORT is located in the centre of the UK with easy access to 35m people within 150 miles, enabling retailers and manufacturers to efficiently serve the market.
The SUPERPORT freight and logistics hub is a unique alliance of port, ship canal, air, road, rail and multimodal logistics assets. Over £1bn investment in port and road infrastructure is transforming the global connectivity and competitiveness of North West UK.
These investments include:
• Mersey Gateway: a new six lane free flowing toll bridge over the River Mersey and included in KPMG’s top 100 infrastructure projects in the world
• 3MG: a multimodal, strategic rail freight interchange development of up to 3.5m sq ft
• Liverpool2: a new deep water container facility for two 13,500 TEU ships with access to over 5m sq ft of warehousing.
The SUPERPORT freight and logistics hub serves the UK’s manufacturing heartland and is the UK’s leading professional maritime centre outside London with a wealth of professional services and shipping lines based in the city and ready to serve the forecasted high growth in logistics and manufacturing demand over the next 20 years.
Ideally positioned to benefit from the expansion of the Panama Canal and growth of the Latin and South American economies; SUPERPORT has a large, appropriately skilled and available workforce, a range of high quality development sites, and a highly competitive cost environment which further add to the SUPERPORT proposition.
