LOTTIE MOON SUNDAY December 3rd
Week of Prayer — December 3-10
Charlotte Digges "Lottie" Moon (December 12, 1840 – December 24, 1912) was a Southern Baptist missionary to China with the Foreign Mission Board who spent nearly 40 years (1873–1912) living and working in China.
When funding from the Foreign Mission Board was not sufficient to provide addi-tional works for Moon’s lonely and arduous mis-sion in Pingtu, China, Lottie loaned the Board $1,000 to help support a new missionary. The sum is equivalent to about $25,000 today.
She began writing letters challenging the church back here to send and support more workers to go there. After her death on the field, her chal-lenge was heeded in the formalization of an offer-ing in her name.
Her life is a reminder of why we must give to send and support missionaries serving among unreached peoples in unreached places.
