Winning Hands
The Aim of the GameThe object of Magic Poker is to get a higher-ranking hand than the banker.
The Magic Poker TableThe magic poker tables seats seven players and each playing position has a set of four betting boxes.
Magic Poker ChipsTo buy in at the Magic Poker table, place your cash or MVG smart card on the table and then the dealer will supply you with value chips before the start of the game.
The PlayBefore the dealer deals any cards, place an Ante bet in the Ante box in front of your play-ing position. Your Progressive bet must be placed at the same time as your Ante bet. The Progressive bet is always R25 and is independent of all other bets. Each player will be dealt five cards face down from the card shuffler before the dealer deals himself five cards. The dealer’s last card is dealt face up.
The Magic Poker Joker is a wild card and you need to decide whether or not you wish to stay in the game by placing your wager in the Bet box equal to that of your Ante bet. Your original Ante bet will be forfeited if you decide to fold your hand.
Once all bets have been placed, the dealer will reveal his or her card. If the player’s hand is better than the dealer’s you will be paid out the odds displayed at the table. If the dealer’s hand is better, the player loses both the Ante and the Bet box bets.
In the event that the dealer does not open and the player has a valid hand, the Bet box will be a stand-off and players will be paid even money on the Ante bet.
If the player does not have a valid hand and the dealer does not open, both the Bet box and the Ante bet will be a stand-off.
Progressive BetThe Progressive bet will be paid if the player has a hand that is equal to, or better than, a pair of Jacks. This bet must be placed at the same time as the Ante bet, prior to any cards being dealt. This bet pays whether the dealer opens or not. The Progressive Jackpot is paid to a Royal Flush, without the Magic Poker Joker.
Blu BetThe Bluff bet is optional and can be played if the player believes that the dealer will not open. To play the Bluff bet, the player must place a bet in the Bet box equivalent to the original Ante bet, and then place a bet in the area marked Bluff. The Bluff bet is a minimum of R25, and can be played in multiples of R25 up to the value of the original Ante bet. When the dealer reveals his hand and does not hold an Ace / King or better, the player will be paid out 3 to 2 on the Bluff bet. If the dealer opens with an Ace / King, the player will forfeit the Bluff bet. The dealer will not open if the cards are less than an Ace or King.
