MAMMOTHSMammoths are amazing animals. They were alive during the ice age. Right now they are extinct. They became extinct 4,000-10,000 years ago. The first sight of people were alive then.

The Ice AgeBaby mammoths barely survived the ice-age. They would struggle. Mammoths would sometimes fall into the ice cracks that were made by other mammoths. People were in attack mode at this time and snow tigers were hunting for prey like baby mammoths.

What do mammoths eat?

Mammoths ate vegetative matter like grass; 700 pounds daily. They would feed by wrapping their trunk around large clumps of grass, tearing it loose then placing the grass in its mouth.

Mammoth TusksMammoths had big tusks. They would use them in fights. People would use them for shelter. But after they killed them.

• Mammoths were in danger! I would not want to be a mammoth. People back then used mammoths for food and their tusks for shelter.

If you were right beside an African elephant , that African elephant is the size of a mammoth.

The MammothMammoths attracted flies. The mammoth sprayed itself with mud to keep the bugs away. People back then put red clay on their skin to keep all the bugs away. They lived close to mammoths. (But they knew to keep far away from mammoths)
