DESCRIPTION

Measure off drawings, scanned docs or photos saved as pdf by first plotting 2 known site measurements. If your drawing has standard items like doors, you will know these are 900mm so use these as your reference(s). Print pdf to scale. (www.quickscale.co)

TRANSCRIPT

Open your drawing in QuickScale

Click Zoom In then click on the drawing to enlarge it. Note: the “traffic light” across the top of the drawing is red and say “Scale has not been set”.

Click on Calibration Tool and click on the start and end point of a known measurement

Enter your measurement and check the mm, ft etc are correct

The “traffic light” is amber and reads Scale is Provisional

Click on Calibration Tool again then click on the start and end point of another known measurement, or use the original measurement again, providing your calibration lines do not cross over.

Enter your measurement and press OK

The “traffic light” is green and shows “Scale is confirmed”. Tip: now save your drawing under a new name. This means each time you open your drawing, you will not have to go through the calibration – you can just go straight into your measuring.

To measure single distances (lengths, heights, widths) click on Line Tool then click on the start and end points of your measurement.

To measure continuous runs (skirting, electrics, fire escapes etc) click on Path Tool and click along the required measurement.

To measure areas, click on Area Tool and click along the corners of the area. The measured area turns green as you measure. Note: make sure your last point of the area is the same as the first otherwise a dragging line will keep on following your cursor, otherwise press Esc.

You can change from mm to ft or inches, or vice versa at any time

Your calculations are recorded in a column on the right hand side of the screen. You can label your measurements and export these to Excel by clicking Export Summary on the Home tab on the top left hand side of the screen.
