FY13 Elections

Michele Milliner, RCRI am a CS major at

WSU, I have been the treasurer and VP or

our SWE section, I am married with 2 kids, I

am interested in robotics and haptics, I

think Duct tape, marshmallow Peeps,

and LEDs are the most awesome inventions

ever.

Lindsay Kammeier, RCCEMy name is Lindsay Kammeier, and I'm a

third year Civil Engineering student at Cal Poly. I like to spend

my free time playing flute in the marching band and

baking. I have enjoyed my experiences at my

school's section of SWE, and I hope to be elected RCCE so I can gain some

regional experience.

Scarlett Siyu Wu, RCCEI want to take the position just

because I want to do something for the community as a member of it. I'd love to get involved in

more activities in the community in the future. I'm an optimistic and curious girl, and always

want to challenge myself. I did volunteering in NGOs, helping people with autism and people

suffering the harsh environment in Himalayan areas. During

leisure time, I will go traveling or play musical instruments for fun. I love running, which can

activate my mind, giving me lots of new ideas.

Wendy Merkley, RCSI’m Wendy Merkley and I am a graduate student

in Environmental Engineering at Utah State University. I’ve been a member since 2005! I love SWE and

everything it represents! I love to go hiking and camping, playing video

games, and reading! And long walks on the

beach.

PICTURE TIME!!!!

Best Practices/Discussion

Discussion Time!Leadership follow through and motivation

We know that everyone is busy but this is something you committed to.

Creating contracts about the positions so they are really committed to the position, with consequences of possibly losing position. Also pulling people up from the committees in form of elections to pull them up.

Asking the leaders what they think they are suppose to be doing and coming up with a list of their responsibilities

If you need to let someone go, keep them in the loop still and try to give them a way to step down without hurting their pride.

Be willing to ask for help of the professionals, they are much more experienced than we are and are great resources

Discussion Time! How do you get general members involved

Use ice breakers at meetings so they can make a connection with others and have good food!

Have guest speakers that talk about different topics that will interest the members

Use workshops that aren’t specific to only one engineering major

Text messaging members so they know about the activities, use google voice to do 5 numbers at a time

Use companies for all the professional workshops PUBLICITY!!! Try to talk to everybody at the meetings so everyone

knows they matter! Remember names!

Discussion Time!

What are your officer structures? How do they work and what are the advantages and

disadvantages of your structure.

Discussion Time!
