Definition of Teaching in Pairs
“Co-teaching involves two or more certified professionals who contract to share instructional responsibility for a single group of students primarily in a single classroom or workspace for specific content or objectives with mutual ownership, pooled resources and joint accountability. (Friend & Cook 2000)”
How to find a Teacher to pair with?
● Self selection● Hash around ideas● Common goal● Incentive to create● Commitment to work● Knuckle down● Get it done!
Understanding roles and rules
● Set up roles● Stick to some rules ● Be enthusiastic ● Be realistic● Be honest ● Have your say ● Get on with it
Creating a schedule
● Create a schedule to divide the workload● Stick to the schedule● Make time to do the work ‘in time’● Insert changes and update schedule● Let your co-Teacher know you have
updated the schedule
Preparing the ‘class’ together
• Visual slides• Program the whole intervention• Set time limits for each section• Remember it’s a Micro session • Make it short and sweet • Info and detail
Using Video as part of Live class
